  1. It's not for everyone, but if you're into the crowds and don't mind the rush & hustle, you'll be fine.
  2. for new york--terribly expensive, crowded, yet lonely for here in houston--not so expensive, crowded, noisy, yet friendly. for most of the cities i've been to across the country, expect to never get anywhere during rush hour, people can be distant and frustrated. most people are reluctant to get friendly, not because they are malicous, but the big cities tend to hide the crazies pretty well.
  3. Do you plan to go to college in NYC? That's probably the best way to there after h/s, live there, and begin your career. It's expensive. Really expensive. Start reading the New York Times newspaper at the library and check out the rents and things, so you know. Living in a dorm would be best at first. There are a lot of scammers; they watch for tourists and young women who are new to the "bright lights" and try to scam them. Or worse. Not to scare you off, but to put a little healthy fear in you. A few trips there (if you haven't yet been) would be very helpful. Do your prep and then go for your dreams!
  4. Depending on what area you are attending school at, it will be very "rushed". Keep your purses close (if you have one).
