What are the best and worst places in the U.S. to live? states/cities?

I live in the NJ/NYC area, and I must say after lots of time living here, that there are better places out there. This place is a dump. Nowadays lots of our country seems to be falling apart and quite awful, so I'm curious as to are there any places in this country left, that have a good quality of life, or is it all gone pretty much? I need advice!

4. You should try a southeastern state such as Georgia or the Carolinas. Also, look into Maryland. Besides the cities, try Harford county.
