Can anyone give me some great places to visit in Texas?

Next summer my Boyfriend, son, and I are driving from Minnesota to Texas, because we are planning on moving to Corpus Chrsiti, Texas. We are just visiting to see if we like the town, but we thought we should combine this with a vacation and we wanted to stop at all kinds of interesting places on the way. Any great places to look at on our way to Corpus?
