Best places to live in rural America?

I think I'm considering BC mild climate, rural settings. Not sure.

1. Depends on what you like, how close to certain amenties you want to be, weather patterns, etc. I believe Barren County KY made a list here a few yrs ago. I live in Shelby County, OH. Live close enough to larger cities that it is no problem to get to, but far enough away that I can stay away. Close to a couple of lakes. Have my piece of paradise on the edge of town.
