best places to live

Can someone please suggest some small towns/cities close to Orlando, Florida to live in?

I would prefer a really small town that has good schools and a low crime rate. Thanks

  1. Windermere and Winter Park are pretty nice areas right outside of Orlando. Winter Park has a great high school, and a great small town feeling, but the housing market is expensive. On the other hand, Windermere has pretty good schools, low crime rates, and is nestled among lakes. Both of them are pricey but worth it if you want to live in a nice town right outside of Orlando.
  2. MELBOURNE!!!! It's about an hour away from Orlando- i live there- it's right next to the beach... i love it... it's split into little towns...
  3. Clermont, FL is where we chose to live when we moved out of Orlando (which is getting crime ridden). Clermont is growing fast, but due to home market taking a downturn, this is getting under control finally! The cost of living is reasonable and the people are friendly. We are getting a regional mall nearby soon but are not full of shops yet. You are close to Orlando via the Turnpike too. The biggest negative is the Hwy 50 drive to the Turnpike. Thanks Bob Pool for that mess but we voted the bum out so all is getting better now. NOTE: All FL schools stink and are severly overcrowded unless you go private. Don't let anyone kid you about that one. If you are worried about education, you would move to another state that actually spends money on education. That would be up North by the way.
  4. Here are some nice suburb cities around Orlando with goods schools, low crime, and nice neighborhoods: - Winter Park (Upscale and Historic) http://www.ci.winter-park.fl.us http://www.parkave-winterpark.com - Longwood (West of I-4) - Oviedo http://www.cityofoviedo.net - Winter Springs http://www.winterspringsfl.org - Celebration http://www.celebration.fl.us http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celebration,_Florida - Windermere - Lake Mary/Heathrow http://www.lakemaryfl.com/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heathrow,_Florida Hope that helps. Here is another helpfull website with good info on relocation info, its the local paper: http://www.orlandosentinel.com
  5. Mount Dora is a really nice small town with a good school system, also private school. Umatilla is a really small town that I lived in and went to school, and always loved it. Home of the one stoplight! They are both about 45 minutes NE of Orlando.
  6. It would depend upon the price you want to pay for a house. Good schools with the best computer labs and science labs and the best Advance Placement (AP) classes are in upscale areas like Dr. Phillips and Winter Park areas but the cost of a house is VERY high in these areas. You can find some decent schools in Mount Dora, Eusitis, Umitilla. Crime in Central Florida is high and in some schools gangs have taken hold, the Kissimmee, St Cloud area being the worse but not the only.
  7. seminole county has great schools. i live in Winter Park. Lake Mary is nice. Oviedo or Winter Springs are still small town but very nice.
  8. Windermere, Winter Park, Clermont all great choices!
  9. WINTER PARK i live there its great. brick streets. park ave with nice shops and restaurants. winter park high school is pretty good and saint margaret mary i heard is good(private) but its a great city the crime rate is average and the housing is pricey but if you find a house just outside its not too bad.
  10. Check out Oakland. It's a small town and has very good schools. In Florida, class sizes are limited by law, so the classes are not overcrowded.
  11. Celebration, FL: the "Town the Disney Built" has one of the best schools in Florida, and is relatively crime-free (close to Disney World and all that).
  12. Celebration, FL It was walt disneys dream of the city of tomorrow there are movie theaters and it's its own little world
