Where are the best places to study drama in New York City?

I'm moving to NY from Sydney Australia at the end of this year and intend on making my first big step into musical theatre. Where should I apply to study? (I'm 21 & have finished HS).

1. I'm sure there are a lot of private teachers you could study with and it may take some research to find out just who would be the best fit for you. You might have to do this once you get here...however, NYU has a great theatre department! Good luck. New York City is the best!

4. AMDA, if you are looking for musical theatre. Circle in the Square, NYU. Sounds like you are wanting to leave home, but you have an excellent school right there in Sydney, NIDA.
5. New York Film Academy, NYU, American Music and Dramatic Academy (AMDA), Columbia. AMDA is the easiest to get in to. I have a lot of friends that go there, and there have been mixed reviews. Some hate, some love it. It's very expensive.
6. NYU...no brainer.
