1. Angeles Crest Forest above Azuzsa, only problem is it is on fire,,, forest falls out toward San Berdu,,, Big Bear FOR SHADE IT IS PROBABLY BEST TO BRING YOUR OWN AWNING TO SET UP.. THIS IS NOT A FORESTY CLIMATE, IT IS MORE OF A DESERT CLIMATE
2. San Bernardino is great you can find anything from forest to desert areas. we use to go alot when we were kids and had a blast. Roughing it is the best! up 15 just before Cajon Pass is some prime hunting and camping and Lytle creek is beautiful, have fun and watch out for the critters....LOL JAX
