best places to live

What are the best places to visit in or around San Diego, California?

I'm planning to go there soon and was wondering what your two cents were about where I could go in that area.

  1. I absolutely love the San Diego Zoo, it is a lot of fun and there is so much to see: http://www.sandiegozoo.org/ Disneyland is also near by, but a little bit of a drive. http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyland/en_US/parks/overview?name=DisneylandResortParksOverviewPage I also really like the Sea World there, I think it is better than the one in Orlando. http://4adventure.com/seaworld/ca/default.aspx There are some really nice beaches in the area as well as some good museums. Here are a few links that may help you with your planning. http://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-2814657-san_diego_things_to_do-i;_ylc=X3oDMTE3N2phcW1vBF9TAzI3NjY2NzkEX3MDOTY5NTUzMjUEc2VjA3NyBHNsawN0aXRsZQ-- http://gocalifornia.about.com/od/casdactivities/?terms=things+to+do+in http://northpb.com/public/outings/ Hope this helps!
  2. Depends what you are interested in. There is always something fun going one. If you are interested in high culture and shopping, La Jolla (pronounced La Hoy-ya) is gorgeous, cliffside, full of amazing homes, restaurants and shops. Mexico is also nearby, but don't stop in Tijuana. Go through Tijuana to Rosarito (1 hour past border crossing) or Ensenada (1.5 hours past border crossing) to tourist-y safe towns. Just remember to get mexico insurance on your car, or tell your rental agency you plan on going there. Finally make sure you check out the Gaslamp District (shopping, dining, drinking, entertainment district, and a Historic district as well)
  3. The most popular spots: Seaport Village- a nice (but touristy) spot with shops along the harbor with great views. Coronado- world famous hotel and a great beach La Jolla- Some of the most exclusive property in town. Great beaches. "The Village" is a quaint shopping & art gallery area. Eat at Georges at the Cove. Pacific Beach/Mission Beach- more crowded beach area with a boardwalk. Lots of clubs & nightlife in P.B. Mission Beach has a historic roller coaster in their boardwalk park. Mount Soledad- the best view of S.D. Amusement: Legoland, the SD Zoo, & Wild animal park (if you are into that sort of thing) Balboa Park- lots of museums, many free on certain days. The Reuben H Fleet is awesome. (IMAX movies) Downtown/Gaslamp- lots of clubs and nightlife but parking is a nightmare *#*#*#*#* This link has ALL the websites for the popular things to do in SD all on one page! 4. Try the two hour SD Harbor cruise from the Embarcardro area off North Harbor Drive. Nicely narrarted boat trip that includes the downtown Harbor area, Point Loma, submarine base, North Island, Coronoado and the Naval Ship yards. Many wonderful chances for photos of sea life (Otters, dolphins etc,) and a chance to see much of San Diego ocean area from water. Many hotels offer 50% discount coupons and it costs under $15 a person.
