Where are the nicest camping places in california?

I am looking especially for southern california. I have previously only been to camping places that have been pretty dry and didn't have a lot of trees there. So I was hoping for spots that make you feel a lot more in nature and preferrably also have a lake there. Thanks for any responses! Among all these that you name, what is your personal favorite? Is there also great camping close to sequoia or yosemeti park?

  1. Big Bear Lake, Lake Arrowhead (limited camping) Sycamore Creek Sate Park, Idyllwild, San Jacinto, Aliso Creek Sate Park, Malibu Creek State Park. We are in the midst of our worst drought in 100 years, so water is going to be very scarce. Stay near the coast like Sycamore Creek and Aliso Creek
  2. up in Azuza canyon is Crystal lake, lake arrowhead, big bear lake, silverwood lake, mt. baldy, all these places are in the mountains...Hell ya,if you can go to Yosemite then get up there, it is awesome this time of year..if not then Big Bear is my recommendation
  3. How about Big Bear Lake Campgrounds? There are several that are right on the lake and you would be surrounded by trees. I would try Serrano Campground. Its on the South Side of the lake. How about El Capitan State Beach and Campground above Santa Barbara. It has a nice little creek that runs through it, right on the beach and is in a nice area. How about Mission Bay In San Diego...Its right on the Bay!!! That would be a fun place to try!!! Have fun wherever you decide to go.
