where is the cheapest places to live in north carolina?
Am looking to relocate, but I'm not rich. A small place in the country, or mountains would be ok. if anyone has any idea of how much an acre of land is in these 2 areas, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

- Cleveland or Rutherfordton County it's in the middle and close to Charlotte.
- I live in the foothills, a very nice area. You could choose a place in Burke, Catawba, Caldwell, Iredell, or Alexander counties. Land varies but an acre can be bought for about 12,000 up. We bought our lot two years ago for 22,000. We have 2 acres, mostly wooded with a creek. Another lot near us is listed at 28,000 for the same amount of land. A lot in a subdivision will be less than one on the lake. Some places in the mountains are higher. I suggest you look at real estate in NC and look at land/acreage online. Sometimes you can find large tracts of land for a good deal.
