Is it still possible to drive in European cities?

Or are cars now forbidden? I heard about the environmental zones they're introducing over there. Isn't that an international trend? So will car travel in European cities end? What will happen when cars no longer run on gasoline?

  1. Well ya!
  2. yes. tc.
  3. um... yeah. Just take the Transatlantic bridge, but you have to park your car at the pier and walk clear across the EU.
  4. lol how much does gas cost over there anyway?
  5. yes you can drive in european cities, cars are not forbidden, just many people dont purchase them, as there isnt really a big need
  6. Yes, make sure you know the driving rules there every country is a bit different than the other.
  7. In Lisbon (portugal), yes, you can drive.
  8. nope no cars in euro sites in fact they r thinking about outlawing walking to like they did running WHAT R U talking about !
  9. It is still possible although many cities are indeed recognising the environmental damage & congestion problems that having so many cars in such a small area cause As a result some are studying and indeed some like London have already introduced so called 'Congestion" charges - wherebe entry to a defined area ivokes a daily charge. Manchester is set to follow this. However other cities in the UK have recently rejected implementing this in the near future e.g. Birmingham. Wikipedia have a page on this with other cities and what is going on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congestion_charge#Recent_developments The London model was implemted by Mayor Ken Livingston who also planned to implement an environmental charge in the forthcoming future http://www.whatcar.com/news-article.aspx?NA=231170, but 2 weeks ago he was voted out of office and replaced - so it remains to be seen what will happen Also some countries' cities (e.g. here in Amsterdam this took place recently) they have a no-car day - but this is more of a publicity ploy to ask people to think about the impact rather than a direct reduction tactic. ... but in summary, yes you and still drive and will be able to do so for the near future.
  10. No way. You can only fly. The only transport in the European cities is now done by hovercrafts.
