As a US citizen traveling between European cities in the EU will my passport be stamped in each country?

I.e when I travel from Vienna to London to Madrid will I get two stamps?

Public Comments

  1. no, I don't think so.
  2. No I don't think so, not with-in the schengencountries.
  3. If you are flying, you may get a stamp.....but otherwise, it is unlikely. I went through 10 countries in Europe and only got a stamp for the UK...which is where I flew in and out of.
  4. You would only get two stamps in your passport. One when you arrived in one of EU's airport and the other when you leave the airport, when you are travelling between EU countries, they would (probably) check your passport only
  5. I doubt it but you can probably ask for one. I flew to France and Spain and did not get a stamp at all. The only stamp I received was on reentry into the US.
  6. at the EU countries they will stamp at the country you go in and at the country you go out ! all the rest is like you cross any state !
  7. Not all of the newest entrants into the EU are fully integrated into the EU and so you may get other stamps if you cross their borders. But those would be Eastern European countries, and you may not go into them (if you were going by train for example).
  8. It depends on whether you are going by air, rail, boat, or car. Some countries in the EU have just made a deal not to require passports from citizens of other EU countries. But, as a non-EU citizen, you will more than likely be re-routed to another passport checkpoint. Not sure why your asking this question, but if it's because your worried about space in your passport, just contact the embassy, and they will happily give you extra pages. Have fun!
