best places to live

best places to live in Virginia?

We're coming from Florida. We want all 4 seasons and snow! We have children ages 12, 10 and 8 months (all boys) so we'd like family friendly areas with good school systems. Ive heard to stay away from Norfolk because its too pricey. Any other advice? What areas would be good for us?

  1. Northern Virginia is the best place to live when you have a family or starting a family. Alexandria has the best school district in the area and it is a very calm and pretty city. Even though it is closer to D.C the prices are very reasonable for families. I have lived here all my life and i love it. Seriously consider Alexandria, i think it will be very beneficial to you.. best of luck!
  2. Northern.VA is the best place to be at in VA but if you feel Norfolk is pricey then I would look at some other options than NVA because of the proximity to DC and demand for housing the cost of living is really high here, Ashburn which is about 40 minutes from DC is a great palce to raise a family with great schools. Fairfax, Reston, Tysons Corner are all great but more $$. Good Luck with your search... and hope this helps.
  3. Nothern VA is great I live in STafford VA which was rated #1 by forbes magazine as the best place to live to get ahead. the schools are great..lots of military families..very small town feel
  4. Chesapeake, VA. It is the fastest growing growing city in VA. Suffolk, VA is also fast growing. If you are looking for a small area, move to Portsmouth. They have a great school system. You can move to Northern VA if you want to be stuck in traffic for a minimum of one hour each day.
  5. My relatives stay in Northern Virginia, Fairfax county. I like there as it's peaceful, many shopping areas, very near to D.C and airport.
