places to stay in between connecticut, new york and Washington dc.?

okay, so me and my bestfreind are trying to get to gether. she lives in washington dc, and i live in connecticut. except our parents are low on money to drive, so we were thinking, why not just meet half way at like a hotel and just hang around and go to the beach. so where on the east coast would there be a good place to stay and chill at the beach. there will hav eto be a nice, but fairly priced hotel aswell.

1. It would be more driving for you but I would suggest Ocean cit Maryland.Very laid-back atmosphere.
