Can you succeed in getting a job with ny city or state or federal jobs when you have a dwi on record?

I got a DWI in Long Island in May 2008. Many city jobs require you to pay $35.00. to take a exam. I would I be wasting time and money taking any jobs for the city , state , federal or postal?

2. Yes or we would have a MUCH smaller GOVT if all the drunks were excluded from GOVT jobs.
