Where are the best places for retirees to live in Southern California?
I'm a single male currently living in Hollywood. I'm not too familiar with the area out here as I'm from the East and have moved here for the weather. Any suggestions?

- if i have the money? rancho santa fe. but i dont so here are the places ill consider. temecula- nice wineries and the casinos, inexpensive golf courses laguna niguel- near laguna beach but not so snobby san clemente- nice beaches and good weather del mar- the best suburb of san diego. the padres are 30 mins away
- Stay in town somewhere...I never could understand why people retire and have time to do all the cool stuff and then move out in the country away from the good stuff...I would never do that...If you want a quieter place try Redondo Beach area or something.
- So cal is not know as a hot retirement spot, mostly because housing is soooo expensive. A few considerations: Leisure world in Orange County. The name says it all. Palm Springs area is gray-haired friendly, if you have the scratch. We have many "retirement homes" if that's what you need. We also have HUD housing available. Get on the waiting lists. I would suggest to consider humble Burbank. It's very senior friendly. Filthy with senior housing, a senior rec center, transportation services, you name it. Here's a website you can start with: http://www.mtsfs.org/index.html
- Definitely Palm Springs.
- Similar weather = Las Vegas Retirement = LasVegas, Laguna Nigel, San Diego area Not Los Angeles, Pleeeeaaaaase
- Leisure World in Seal Beach is a very good location. Nice weather, close to the beach, and lots of active retirees. The Palm Springs area has a LOT of retirees, and it's growing. My folks live out in Palm Desert. It's nice out there, but HOT in summer. I'm surprised nobody mentioned San Diego before this. There are a lot of retirees down there. The weather is nice and boring, and the attitudes are very relaxed. LOTS of retired Navy down there.
- Leisure Village or Leisure world
- san diego. it's boring and quiet as hell, but nice scenery and beaches everywhere. if you are a right wing conservative, it's a plus there.
