best places to live

Best place to live in Atlanta for vegetarian single?

I might be moving to the Atlanta metro to take up a job, specifically in Alpharetta. Moving from California and have never been to Atlanta. Have no idea on where to live. I'm a vegetarian single in my 30's and would prefer being near places that might have some vegetarian restaurants or natural food stores nearby. Not too much into the night-life scene, and like being very active (running, hiking, etc) but it would be nice to be around young single people. Willing to spend around $800 on a studio/one-bed apt, preferably including utilities. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated :)

  1. Here's a site that may help: http://www.stonecircleinc.com/vegworld/atlanta_rest_form.html Good luck.
  2. Alpharetta's probably not a bad spot for you, based on the info you've provided. I don't know about vegetarian restaurants, but I think there is a Whole Foods store in the Roswell area (Upper Hembree, if memory serves), which is neighbor to Alpharetta. $800 should get you a better-than-decent 1-br/ba in Alpharetta. You might even go a little further north and try Cumming (yes, that's really the name of the town).
  3. If you need a directory of vegetarian restaurants in Atlanta, check out VegDining.com. It lists hundreds of restaurants from all over the world, esp. those in North America, and even offers a discount card, which could be useful for you since you are single and likely to dine out a lot. Many of the restaurants listed on this site have been reviewed by people who have visited and dined at these restaurants. Good luck with your new job and new home!
  4. if you live in alpharetta then u will feel slightly cut off from atlanta, and that GA 400 traffic is horrible. some good intown areas that would suit your active, single, vegetarian lifestyle alot better. they are poncey highland, inman park, virginia highland, little 5 points, candler park, or cabbagetown. these are all great places with good walking and bike paths. also there area lot of vegan, and natural food stores in the area. they all have good foot traffic and freindly neighborhood vibe. its diverse, but not in the bad way
  5. Alpharetta sounds AWESOME for you..!!! i live in alpharetta and it is a great city!! Okay... so i would definately suggest Windward Pkwy. There is an L.A.Fitness there... a few salad resturants and sub shops... there is also a GREAT steakhouse called Cabernet Steakhouse and its wonderful. Theres also 2 grocery stores that are Supoer Wal-Mart and Kroger. I hope this helps. but there are appt. complexes right on windward but im sorry I don't know the name!! but there are nice ones!! its a great communty . Good luck on your journey!!
