Where is the best place for a single 25 year old to live in Melbourne, working at Tullamarine?

Hi, i am currently looking at a job at Tullamarine airport, and i am paying a visit to Melbourne in October 08. I am looking for a place that is suitable for singles, an have plenty of places to get to know other people, and also be close enough to travel back an forth to Tullamarine. Any help would be great, thanks.

1. Near Tullamarine there is a massive estate which i guess would be a nice place to meet people. The best way to find a place to live is to actually stay there. But i wouldnt worry too much about finding a place to live. Im sure you will find somewhere nice to live.
2. somewhere between tullamarine and the cbd, maybe essendon or moonee ponds, brunswick, plenty of other nearby places. you will need a car as there are no trains to tullamarine airport
