best places to live

Has anyone been to wine country out in California? Any details about the best places to go?

My husband and I are planning a trip to wine country (sonoma valley, napa valley) and would love to hear any suggestions about cool wineries to go, etc...we don't care about having to go to all the "must see" places. We care more about having a good time and drinking some good wine:)

  1. I live near the wine country and you'll love your visit here! You might go online and check out the Napa/Sonoma Chamber of Commerce to get a listing of vineyards and winery's to visit. Greystone has been converted to a wonderful cooking school as an added bonus. On a yearly basis the COPPA is an event to visit. St. Helena is a wonderful little village with local wineries nearby. We stay at the Embassey Suites in Napa and drive to vineyards nearby.
  2. Go to Wilson Creek Winery and make sure you try their almond champagne which they are famous for.
  3. there are a number of wineries on hwy 46 between cambria and paso robles. i was just there christmas and all wineries have alot going on right now! there's about 10+ wineries on that 24 mile stretch, plus the very scenic pacific ocean and Hearst castle are nearby
