best places to live

How much money is more than enough to live in Australia for a year?

I'm saving up to live in Australia for about a year. I'm from Canada and need to get out of this cold place! I'd like to do quite a bit of fun things and move around throughout the country, but have not a clue how much is enough. I've been told 10 thousand dollars is plenty, but that only takes them just around 6 months. Any advice and tips would be more than amazing!

  1. apply for a working holiday visa so you can pick up casual jobs as you travel around its probably the only way you can get a visa for a year http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-holiday/visa-options.htm
  2. $10,000 will be enough if you're here on a Working Holiday visa so that you can pick up casual work or fruitpicking to stretch your funds, but it won't be nearly enough for even 6 months if you don't work. http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-holiday/417/ The fun things and the moving around throughout the country can get expensive and even the cheapest hostel accommodation plus food and incidentals will set you back st least $70 per day unless you intend living on nothing more than baked beans and McDonalds every day for 12 months. Personal items like shampoo and sunscreen (you'll need plenty of that) are expensive here and even public transport costs can add up when you're moving around our cities (not to mention the expense of travelling between cities).
