What are some good vacation places on the East coast between Georgia and Washington DC?

We're going on vacation for Spring Break, but I have no idea where to go besides our destination: Washington DC. What are some places and spots for sightseeing? It should be cheap, we won't be needing hotels or anything so we just need some cheaper attractions to amuse ourselves through the trip.
