Best UK cities to live & work in?

I plan on moving to the UK for a few years to work. (My application is with the British Consulate under the the Tier 1 General Migrant visa). What's the best city to work and live in all of the UK and why?

1. Look up: Portsmouth, Hampshire. See if you like! :)
2. London is the place for you.
3. Yeah I agree with Biba Girl, look up Portsmouth and see if you like it! Its a really great city with lots to see and do. Its right on the coast and that makes the summer months really special. Portsmouth is also home to a lot of thriving industries and has good transport links to other places.
4. !Bristol! :) A happy lovely friendly place, good nightlife, arts etc, beautiful countryside & good links to coast (Cornwall), mountains (Wales) and the big smoke (London).
5. Bournemouth as it has a great night life, the best beaches in the whole of the Uk, good support for migrants looking for work and language schools for migrants, not that you seem to need that. London has to much fierce Competition in the workplace and the cost of living is extremely high. Good luck with the move : )
