best places to live

What is the best place to live in the Bronx?

What is the best location to live or commute to the Bronx? My Fiancee and I are planning on moving to the Bronx area sometime this summer (2009). She teaches near the Buhre Ave Station, and I work in security for a large company -so I could be transferred to several places near the Bronx. I plan on commuting by vehicle, but she will have to rely on public transportation. She likes the idea of Parkchester - however I am worried about the area around it. I've heard Pelhem Bay could be nice. We are young, so we don't want to get too far from civilization. Together, we make about 100,000. Thanks for your help! Moose

  4. In the Bronx you are never away from civilization. Pelham Bay is nice. Pelham Bay Park is a great recreational area. Throggs Neck you can find places near the Long Island Sound. Either area gives you the opportunity to hop on the train into Manhattan and party or drive to City Island for fishing, boating and Seafood Dinning. Summers a day at Orchard Beach. The Bronx is tough for finding apartments. Most are rented to friends and family. A great source of Apartments for rent are Catholic Church Bulletins.
