Where in New York City are the best places to meet people?

Where are the best places to meet new people in New York City? (nice people, not crazy people) and I mean places besides bars. I'm 22, I'm going to be moving to New York by the end of this year with my twin sister and we don't know anyone in New York yet but we want to start meeting new people as soon as we get there.
