which neighborhoods are safe and beautiful to live in? ideally, affordable too but in SF i know thats hard

Pacific Heights, Presidio Heights, St. Francis Wood, Seacliff, Marina, Nob Hill, Telegraph Hill, Russian Hill, Twin Peaks, Mission Bay, and Embarcadero (South Beach) are all wonderful neighborhoods. But they're pretty pricey and snooty. For decent middle-class areas, try West Portal, Parkside / Lake Merced, Inner Sunset, Outer Sunset, Richmond, Laurel Heights, Hayes Valley, Noe Valley, and Cole Valley.
