best places to live

What city in Alaska is the best to live?

I'm wondering which city would be the best choice as I am thinking of moving there. Somewhere not too populated either...

  1. I hear you can shoot wolves from airplanes in Wasilla. Sounds good to me.
  2. Wasilla
  3. I just moved from Alaska and Eagle River is really nice. It is about 15 minutes or so outside of Anchorage. Good luck if you move there it is very different and it takes a special kind of person to stay.
  4. There you go!
  5. Every town in Alaska is different. Anchorage is a city. Fairbanks is a smaller city, colder in the winter. Juneau, Sitka and Ketchikan are rainy, but quite cosmopolitan for their size. Think about what kind of lifestyle you want. If it's shopping, go to Anchorage or Wasilla or Eagle River. If it's kayaking and fishing, Juneau, Ketchikan, Sitka, Homer, Seward, Cordova, Valdez. Winter sports, Fairbanks. Don't like the cold? Ketchikan, Wrangell or Petersburg. Anchorage and Fairbanks have large universities. Juneau has a really nice smaller one. The other communities have community colleges. Jobs and housing can be hard to come by in some of the smaller towns. Read their newspapers online to get an idea of what's available, and how much they cost. Once you narrow down the kind of lifestyle you want, post another question and we'll all help you.
