Which European cities are best for romantic short breaks for a young couple?

I'm going away with my boyfriend and we want a week long break in a European city that has great shopping, nightlife and food. Paris was the obvious answer, but does anyone know of anywhere else that can give us this and provide us with cheap but modern, chic hotels?

1. I love Prague. It has all the charm of Paris at half the price. Prague is a very walkable, well-maintained old-style European city. There are wonderful street musicians and entertainers and cheap concerts every night, dining in little outdoor cafes along the river, a castle, parks. I miss Prague.
2. I havent been to many places in europe but i thought Rome was gorgeous have a good break!
