Which European cities are best for romantic short breaks for a young couple?

I'm going away with my boyfriend and we want a week long break in a European city that has great shopping, nightlife and food. Paris was the obvious answer, but does anyone know of anywhere else that can give us this and provide us with cheap but modern, chic hotels?

4. I personally think Rome is the most romantic city in the world. The sights are amazing and dinner in one of the beautiful Piazza'a is fantastic. Try the site below for hotels
5. Prague, absolutely. Especially in spring or fall. Try a hotel called The Castle Steps.
