what cities in florida are best to visit?

We are looking for somewhere nice either on a beach or very close to a beach but without the rates of a very tourist place like orlando. Northern would be better cause it would be a shorter drive, any ideas?? Just going for a weekend if that helps at all.

1. Try Destin or Panama City Beach. I used to live in PCB and hope to return there to live someday. There are some touristy areas, but most of the locals are great people. While there try to visit Schooners or The Boatyard, they are both wonderful restaurants. The beaches are beautiful. Destin is a little less crowded than PCB, but the prices are somewhat higher. There is plenty of shopping for the ladies in both places. You can find values in PCB if you stay in a place that is not right on the gulf. Hope this helps.
