What is the best state to live in?

With low taxes decent jobs and affordable housing. Please do not tell me about progressive states because they are not the place for me. I don't need high taxes, Illegal immigration and high crime. Thanks in advance for your input.

Well, the economy's bad all over, and since the US has now moved into the 21st century, all states should become increasingly progressive so as not to be left behind (though by working toward a just and sustainable society, they'll also have lower crime, which you're looking for). And America is, and always has been a country of immigrants. At the risk of sounding like someone on the opposite end of the political spectrum from which I actually am, I'd say if you don't like these things, you should perhaps move out of the country.

4. Low taxes and affordable housing, Montana for sure, but the jobs aren't too readily available. No sales tax. Affordable housing, Alabama. Very affordable housing, my dad often looks there but never acts on it. Decent Jobs, I have to say California. We are trying to move, and they always have jobs posted online.
