best places to live

Which city is better to live and work in for a young professional - Manchester of Leeds?

I'm considering applying for a job which offers vacancies in both cities, but I have to state which place I'd like to work. As I've never been to either city this is proving difficult! It has been suggested Leeds is too 'studenty' (?)

  1. i would rather go to manchester, as it's bigger there will be more opertunities, choose manchester.
  2. It depends what you like to do. Without knowing what you like then Manchester as it has two Premiership clubs to go and see.
  3. Manchester,
  4. Definitely Manchester...nicer people, much better shopping and much more to do.
  5. Leeds is an amazing place, nicer ppl with less annoying accents
  6. As I've lived in both Leeds and Manchester (now settled in Leeds) here are my overall impressions of each place: Manchester- big anonymous lots of chavvy kids extremely busy at weekends good shopping and watering holes well-placed to visit the rest of the UK via train can be a bit nasty at night some very bad areas modern, cosmopolitan, fast lifestyle Leeds- neat, but has everything you need close to some beautiful countryside lots of nightclubs yes; quite studenty, but I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing personally, I feel more comfortable and content here nicer weather (!) bit more relaxed pace than Manchester Hope this helps, although I think you'd be best to visit yourself to get a proper impression
