Best places to eat in New York City?

I would like to know where I can find good food in New York, but there are some exceptions. Are there any really good hole-in-the-wall restaurants or diners in the Bronx or Manhattan. And it can't be a pizza place. I don't mind an Italian place with good pizza but I'm looking for a place with good food of any kind but not too expensive. And if you know of any really good diners, please don't hesitate to tell me about them.

2. You can try this place called Squire's by Pearl Street in Manhattan. I went there a few times with friends. the food's pretty good and it's not expensive either.

4. You know I bet a place that serves a good buffet would be really great to go to! It would be kinda hole in the wall-ish and have a selection of food depending on the type you like. You can find a lot of places by their feature such as a buffet from an online yellow pages like Bronx Buffet to try out!!
