best places to live

Why do people live in big cities?

I hear all the time of how people suffer financially and thefore emotionally. I've heard people say that when you go to a big city they can't leave because they don't feel like they have another option, but I live in a modest sized town (25,000-30,000) and anybody can get a good paying job and decent housing, and people on the street are nice to each other. So...... People living in big cities, can ya help me out?

  1. maybe expensive but i love it. its an awesome experience.
  2. we are attracted to the life here. And theres many opportunities, you just have to find them. Yea its expensive but we get it done.
  3. I live here cause my parents came here when they were young therefore, I have no choice but I know what you're saying.... The first thing I want to do when I have enough money to leave? Go to a medium sized town, just like yours, find a decent job that I like, and be a nice addition to the people that say hi outside.
  4. poeple always say job oppurtunities
  5. because we can find work easily and plus it's not quite every thing is on fashion....
  6. They're there to escape the hicks, fundies, and scary hill folk who live in the fly-over states.
  7. i live in las vegas but i wouldnt consider vegas a big city by population and im cornfused by your question
  8. Because it's fun and nightlife is amazing and the view is stunning. I don't even live in a REAL big city, but I consider it big (:
  9. I own a house in the country but currently work thousands of miles away and live in a big city. The money is about 7 times what I could make back home so I'm out here for now. My house will be paid off soon and then I will money up, go home and take it easy. Big cities suck.
  10. People move to big cities like New York and Chicago and LA because of jobs. People need jobs. Big cities offer those, for the working class, for the day workers, jobs for people that couldn't be found elsewhere. Yes, you can get jobs elsewhere, but... who knows...
  11. cities are awesome...but then again there is the pressure... Inner city life. Inner city pressure. The concrete world is starting to get ya. The city is alive, the city is expanding. Living in the city can be demanding. You pawned everything, everything you owned. Your tooth brush jar and a camera phone. You don't know where you're going. You cross the street, you don't know why you did. You walk back across the street. Standing in the sitting room. Totally stint. And your favorite jersey is covered in lint. You want to sit down but you sold your chair. So you just stand there. You just stand there... (YOU JUST STAND THERE!) Inner. Inner city. Inner city pressure. Counting coins on the counter of the 7/11. From a quarter past six til a quarter to seven. The manager, Bevin, starts to abuse me. Hey man, I just want some musely. Neon signs, hidden messages. Questions, answers, fetishes. You know you're not in high finance. Considering second hand underpants. Check your mind, how'd it get so bad? What happened to those other underpants you had? Look in your pockets, haven't found a cent yet. Tenants on your balls, "have you payed your rent yet?" Inner. Inner city. Inner city pressure. Inner. Inner city. Inner city pressure. So you think maybe you'll be a prostitute. Just to pay for your lessons, you're learning the flute. Ladies wouldn't pay you very much for this. Looks like you'll never be a concert flutist. You don't measure up to the expectation. When you're unemployed, there's no vacation. No one cares, no one sympathizes. You just stay home and play synthesizers. Inner. Inner city. Inner city pressure.
  12. i live in a small town...
  13. cities are good to live in cause you are so close to entertainment, sports games, restaurants, parks, transport, work, school, shopping etc. i know suburbs and other cities have this too but bigger cities have more so that is obvisouly better :D
  14. "They don't feel like they have another option"? I live in Buffalo Grove, NW suburbs of Chicago, Population 43,000 and considering the downfall of our economy, 2 of my friends and myself have acquired a great paying job within the last month. I don't know everyone in this modest sized town but the people I meet on the street in this community are so far so good:)
