  1. huntington beach pier would be a good one. or either newport or seal beach. try this. http://www.pierfishing.com/ or this. http://www.pierfishingguide.com/
  2. Ocean Beach, Mission Beach, Oceanside, San Clemente, Balboa, Newport, Huntington Beach, Seal Beach, Redondo, Santa Monica, Malibu are all producers. On sunny days halibut are under them all and following grunion runs is the best fishing from piers. Mussels and Clams work in close to shore on perch, corbina and croakers. Frozen chovies, sardines (obviously) grunion and smelt are all great for the barn doors and live bait can be caught and used like little mackerel, perch, herring, sardines and smelt too. I have caught over 90 legal halibut off all the piers in So Cal (every one mentioned) They can not be one milimeter shorter than 22 inches long to keep and my favorite is H. B. Better than night is first dawn 36 hours after the grunion stop running "everywhere" even from the rocks in Laguna..... Night fishing with mackerel, squid and clams will catch you lots of sharks and rays by fishing out away from the pier but straight down tap your wieght on the bottom to vibrate the sand and draw the halibut to your bait. Fish behind the waves breaking and in the cleaner (less turbulent and stained) water. Good luck
