1. Orange County. It is only an hour from Los Angeles WITHOUT the smog and excessive traffic. Cities like Huntington Beach, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Yorba Linda, and Villa Park have EXCELLENT schools and friendly people, though property prices are quite high (500k to 1 million).
