best places to live in bay area for single mother of one year old and growing : )?

give me the names and why and i will look into it with the city data searches. if you have links to helpful websites that would be great. looking for somewhere flat not hills. i am afraid of water and heights. not looking to move to anywhere expensive. san fran, oakland, and san jose are out. i hear fremont is nice. i currently live in the valley so i like the flat wide open space. i want to move to bay area for sake of better air quality and weather. must be safe and have good schools and public assistance housing is needed for the first six months to a year so the waiting lists cant be more than 8 months long cuz i want to move by may of next year. thanks a million im thinking manteca, dublin, dixon, or claremont...i just am not sure if these places are flat and how many freeways they have...dont like bridges cuz bridges mean water career is medical billing/transcription...so i need to move to a place with opportunities once i complete course in february

  1. I live in Concord. I grew up in Walnut Creek, but that is too expensive now, plus the town is not my sort of place anymore! We are flat, in the valley. Our schools are not the best in the state, but not bad for the most part. Even the ones that are, are not dangerous and kids can do well if they want. No gangs running the streets, though like anywhere else in the county there are tags now and then. North Concord is cheaper than near Clayton. If you go farther east you have Pittsburg, Antioch, Oakley, they get cheaper. Hotter though. I like our neighborhood. It is called Holbrook Heights. It has schools within walking distance. So is the library. BART (train) station is 1 mile from here, so commuting is easy. No parking problem at this station (North Concord/Martinez). There are some apartments too. Do not look at places off Monument Blvd. That is the worst part of town. Oh, now I will get voted down for saying that! I know the people can be nice and all, but that area has some of the worst problems.
