What is the best city in Florida to visit?

My BF and i planing to go on vocation together. Can you suggest any of the cheapest,cute,romantic,interesting and on the beach close to the ocean city or town in Florida? i was thinking about Key West or Miami,but its kind of expensive thank you :)

1. By far- St.Augustine, Its the BEST :) Not as expensive as Miami and such. Many other things to do then shop and visit the beach. And not as many tourists then Orlando and places like that. I recommend staying on the beach with an ocenview, or any of the bed and breakfasts.
2. Tampa Bay area is a great place for a vacation. Tampa has Busch Gardens, Lowry Park Zoo, and The Florida Aquarium. They are all plenty of fun. Clearwater Beach is clean, safe, and beautiful white-sand. There are many restaurants and shops near the beach. Also, many fun sight-seeing cruises. The manatee cruises are fun. Stay in Clearwater or Tampa for your least expensive hotels. The most expensive ones will be on or right near Clearwater Beach. Tampa does have many inexpensive hotels outside of the downtown area.
3. I would forget about Key West. Its pretty much always expensive because its so popular. There are so many vacations deals out there right now. With a little work you can find great hotel deals almost anywhere. Ft.Lauderdale Beach is Fun. Deerfield Beach has a great boardwalk area. I have even found great deals in South Beach (athough the hotels are usually not the glamourous ones you see on tv. they are old with window airconditioners hanging in the window) . I prefer the gulf coast for its beaches with white sand and calm warm waters. Check out Siesta Key, Sanibel island, lovers key and Clearwater Beach.
