best places to live

Where are the best places in FL to live (ie. cost of living, pay wadges, night life)?

I am currently looking into a move from MD to FL. Where in FL are the best places to live? I am under the age on 30 and looking for a eventful night life and things to do on the weekends. I work in the medical field. Are jobs and pay wadges up to par?

  1. No where. You'd hate it there. Hot, steamy, no relief in the summer from the heat and bugs. Alligators that eat little kids and dogs, water moccasins too. No seasons either. Every road is crowded, and the natural resources are dwindling fast. You'd be better off finding another state to move to.
  2. I'm sure the cost of living is expensive as with California. There is a high demand to live in these warm climates. I can see not having winter but the heat and big bugs are enough to keep me away from there. Maybe you could look through the Florida classifieds for jobs and real estate on line. Take care and best of luck!
  3. people of florida on this site seam to wanna keep that warm nice place to themselves , it is really cheap to live in those little bumblefick towns they have all over florida my buddy lived in tallahasse which is a college city and he had a like a 2 bedroom house for like 550 a month so if you look you can find stuff dirt cheap and there a tons of jobs down there from the tourist that they hate but create the reasons for public works jobs and improvements just watch out there is a lot of white trash down there in trailer parks ... lake alfred outside of orlando is cheap and close commute to orlando which has nightlife
  4. Florida has some of the lowest pay for employees in the country. I assume you mean "wages" when you say "wadges". I thought Maryland had higher standards of English than that. The medical field in Florida for medical aides, techs, etc is overpopulated. You would be lucky to earn anything over $7.50 per hour. Depending where you would live, that would not be enough to survive on. If you are earning $7.50 per hour, you are not going to have enough money to enjoy night life and things on the weekend. You will be working every hour you can in order to pay for food, insurance, car payment, gasoline, and rent - and still be broke. Traffic in the cities is terrible. The climate is hot and humid - even more humid than Maryland in July and August except Florida is humid most of the year. Relocate to South Dakota. Low cost of living, no state income tax, good job market, and friendly people (who are well educated).
  5. You should plan a week long trip to FL to check out for yourself what area suits you best. I know the job market is tough there, so line something up before you get move. Good luck!
  6. Jacksonville is said to have lowest cost of living (electricity bill is low definitely.... Apartments vary.... Mine is for 870 and I split it with my boyfriend. For nightlife I would say Orlando or Miami. I don't know about Tampa. And for Jobs.. i don't know it depends what you are tying to do. I live in Jackson and I don't know what the wages are but I think the minimun is like 6 and 7. Its pretty much a college town and military city but its tolerable. I like orlando alot better though.. its but as upbeat as orlando tampa and miami.
  7. there is lots of jobs here in Fla. try looking up jobs on hot jobs or some site like that ...At alot of the jobs here don`t pay any more than any other state BUT the upside is you don`t have to pay any State or city taxes ...this website can help you se the prices of rent here in Fla. http://www.orlandohomeapartments.com/......I can tell you that the Orlando,Kissimme area there is a lot of people there so lots of traffic ...I live in the Lakeland area which is about an hour from Kissimmee and 30 mins from Tampa its a little less populated so not as much traffic but not to far from the big citys
  8. Looks like a few of the people that have answered before me really have no clue about Florida... "Alligators that eat little kids and dogs, water moccasins too'? Come on really you can't be serious! I've lived here for almost 30 years and have never heard of 1 child being eaten by an alligator! Where are you getting this bs from? Moving somewhere close to central Florida would probably be your best bet. There is plenty to do there. The southern part of the state (Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area) is extremely overcrowded. Orlando is full of tourists too so living somewhere outside the city is best. The northern part of the state is mostly rural with not too much to do. There are plenty of jobs but don't expect wages to be what you are used to in MD. The wages here are lower but then again, so is the cost of living compared to anywhere in the northeast.
