Where are some good places for a single female straight out of college to live in L.A.?

I want to move there after college to become either a lawyer or producer. I want to live near Los Angeles in a safe neighborhood and people have said Santa Monica or West Los Angeles. Where is the best place to live? Also, how much money should I start out with so I can afford to live in an apartment? Also, has anyone ever heard of/seen the Pico Lanai Apartments, Pacific Plaza apartments, Plaza at the Arboretum or the Santa Monica Blitmore? (These are all in Santa Monica)

1. West Hollywood. Safest place in the basin.
2. There are plenty of "best places to live" in LA. West Hollywood, Santa Monica, parts of Venice Beach, Culver City, Palms area...to name just a few. Go onto Craigslist and westsiderentals to look around. I suggest you move with no less than $7500.00 bucks in the bank. In the neighborhoods you are looking you can expect rent for a one bedroom/one bath to be anywhere from $1300-$1600.00. You might also look for roommate situations though that could be a bit dicier. In general two bed/two baths go anywhere from $1650.00 to over 2 grand.
