I am thinking to move to california from London and am wondering which is the best state to live in?

In relation to the cost of living and things to do.

1. California is a STATE... Did you mean what city to move in? Depends on what is your profession (e.g. - high tech professionals in the Bay Area/Silicon Valley; entertainment industry professionals around LA) and if you have already got a set job, or just a job-permit and a residency in the US ("Green Card") and you only need to choose the place to relocate to.
2. California is not cheap. However, you are coming from London which is very expensive compared to California so you should be ok. San Francisco in my opinion if the best city to live in, and if you live in San Francisco proper, you will not need to get a car. You will only need one if you get a job outside the city. Take a look at moving to San Francisco even though a one-bedroom apartment will run you 1300 pounds a month.
