What is the best small town for relocation in mountains near Johnson City, Tennessee?

I prefer a rural area with log cabins for semi-retirement but within 20 miles of a small or medium city. Am considering such locations as Jonesborough, Bluff City, Greeneville, Gray, and Elizabethton, preferably for a log cabin type home with an acre or two.
