what are some mild-temperature cities in southern california?
.. coming from a warmer, more even-tempered zone, I'm shocked by Californian L.A. weather. One day it's 60; in 3 days it shoots to 98, with unbearable sun glare. It's also very dry. Just like they said, it's "semi-arid climate, with extreme variation between daytime and nighttime temperature". My skin literally flakes off from this extremity. Since California is such a geographically & climactically diverse state, which southern CA area/cities are more even tempered year-round? Say.. a gentler and consistent 70-85 year-round? Yes, I looked up wikipedia. Just want to hear from real people who actually live there..

- In so cal? haha! i lived there for about two years, and by mid afternoon... pretty much in any city, you'll be sweating. I've lived in bakersfield, san diego, and long beach. I'd pick somewhere by the oceans. It's usually cooled by coastal winds and you can cool off at the beach in case it gets too hot. If location is not a problem, I'd pick a city in the San Francisco area cause climate tends to be more consistent. hope it helps
- The closer you are to the ocean, the more consistent the weather is. It gets a bit cooler at night, though, down to the low 60's. But it rarely cracks 90 at the beach.
- I don't live in sanfranbay area, but I understand the weather to be pretty mild.
- The closer you are too the ocean the milder it will be. I think San Diego has to have one of the most consistent and least varied climates in all of Southern CA. Pretty much stays between 66-78 all year long. The hottest is usually gets is 90 and there are not more than 3-5 days a year like that. The nights are much warmer here during summer too, usually high 60's to low 70's and there is a less than 10 degree variation between day and night during the summer. Winter tends to produce the biggest extremes in day time and night time temps, about 15-20 degress usually. The farther you go inland the more the weather varies and the drier it is. Try moving as close to the coast as possible.
- If you are looking for moderate heat in So cal, I would stay away from the desert and the San Fernando Valley. I live in Burbank, and the heat here gets turned up pretty high. I would actually recommend The SF bay Area, where I am from orginally, the weather there is a lot less dry.
- it is lovely in Ventura and the temp is more even keeled than inland. and it is a great place to live. my in-laws lived there for many years and i always found it pleasant.
- San Diego has a mild year round temperature. This means that it is not as hot during the summer as many places get and not as cold as many places during the winter. The temperature is consistent. As you travel east from the coast in San Diego...the temperature is definitely warmer in the summers. I love San Diego's temperature and all of the great things to do.
