Why is the White population of major California cities shrinking?

I've looked at projected demographic info for many CA cities (like LA and San Diego), and it looks like by the year 2030, many of these cities will look substantially different than they do now. The Hispanic populations will increase a lot while the White population will decrease modestly. What does this mean? Percentage wise, even if the white population continues to grow, the percentage of whites in these areas will go down. Does this mean that a lot of Whites are leaving CA or does it simply mean that immigrants are coming in much faster than Whites are having children? Are a lot of White people choosing to leave CA bc they're afraid of all of the immigrants? Well, teresathegreat, thanks for accusing me of using alarmist tactics in order to get racist responses from people...I can tell, you're really sensitive to the underlying point of most questions. 1. It means those damn overbreeding mexicans won't stay in their own country where they BELONG.
2. More coming than being born. White Californians are very powerful - own Hollywood and almost all elected office. They fear nothing and are perfectly safe here.
3. The white population is isn't objectively "shrinking", the actual number of people isn't going down, but the relative size of the group compared to the total population is lessening. Nor does it mean that white people are leaving the state, and it's still absurd to suggest that any or all of them are doing so out of fear or to avoid other races. The relative rise of other racial populations may be due in part to immigration (legal and illegal) from other states or countries, but more of it can be attributed to birth rate. This sort of poor and illogical analysis leds to alarmist thinking and reactionary racism. Any trained sociologist could point out the biased leanings in this argument - don't expect people to accept statistics if you're not going to cite credible sources.
4. They're all moving to my beloved state (CO), and bringing all their messed up Californian values, and it's killing the poor state's beauty. I think they should just go back to where they came from, quit taking all our jobs, and stop jacking up the real estate market. Plus LEARN THE LANGUAGE! We don't call each other "Bra". This is America, and if you wanna address someone, speak english!

Many people, especially whites are discusting w/ our sorry government and are moving to Oregon, Arizona etc. I'm ready to move back out of California because I refuse to learn spanish to get a job! I'm far from being afraid of immigrants and doubt many people are afraid. They just stand on corners begging for work, bring value down in neighborhoods w/ their 15 people living in one home. The Govenor should be closing the borders, deporting ALL illegals and requiring them to go through the legal system to come back in! Our prisons in California and many other states are over crowded w/ illegals, and we end up paying for their imprisonment! I'm sure that within the next 4 yrs. we will end up moving back out of California for good. Look at what their doing in Louisiana!! Got the nasty roach coaches in New Orleans, the parishes are having to legally ban them. They are taking all the building jobs from the legals because the contractors have all the illegals willing to work for chump change! I can give a shit if Mexico once owned California! Why can't Mexico's sorry ass government spend $ to fix up Mexico so that their people aren't coming to CA to live! Oh, what's really f-up is that they work here in CA, or another state then western union the money to Mexico!! B.S.! So they take the jobs, money but don't spend the money they earn here?? WAKE UP AMERICA!!

8. As a native born Californian white guy, I get ashamed of others who say that the borders should be closed, people should go back to Mexico, etc... This country has always been founded on immigrants, and it seems to be that just because the people moving here are dark-skinned and speak a different language, they are inferior for some reason. If you go back a hundred years, native born Americans were saying the same things about Irish, German and Italian immigrants they are saying now. Their food smells bad, they live cramped into houses, they won't learn English, they will work for low wages, etc... Get over it. Unless you are Native American (Indian) you have no moral leg to stand on. My great-granparents immigrated from Germany. They lived two families in a crowded apartment building for many years, then gradually moved up through saving and hard work, just like today's immigrants want to. All they wanted was a better life for their children, which is the same motivation for today's immigrants from Latin America or China or wherever. California's population is growing rapidly, and the number of white people is staying the same. Large families are a traditional facet of many foreign cultures be they Latino or Asian or Irish or whatever. These people value family and see more children as a blessing. I learned Spanish as a career move and it has paid off tremendously. I estimate I make $15k more a year through my serious efforts to learn Spanish and I am proud of my abilities. I'm starting Arabic classes in the fall as this can only increase my job potential. Its easy to sit back and blame other people for your failures, but true sucesses in life WORK for it and don't take the lazy whiners' route. Suck it up and get a life worth living, and enjoy the incredible mix of cultures around you in California. If you don't like it, leave, because its not getting any blander.
9. There may be some shrinkage due to moving to suburbs and so on but the main thing is that European/Caucasian populations are growing slower than those of other backgrounds. This is party due to the fact that Western Europe is very prosperous as a whole and less Europeans are immigrating here than from other parts of the world. In reference to Hispanic populations being on the rise, I think that Hispanics were the majority in all of the Southwest before the Mexican-American War.
