best places to live

Best smaller city in Northern California for finding employment?

Looking to relocate in Northern California, need smaller city, around 75,000 population, good job opportunities, good for families, affordable. My husband works in construction installing manufactured homes. Affordable would be a 3 bedroom house for $900 a month, approx.

  1. Just pick any one under 75K in population...McDonalds is always hiring..... Point is, it might help if you say what carreer your looking into....
  2. What do you do and what does affordable mean to you? Shoot me a message and I might be able to help you.
  3. I am not sure of the actual population, but I used to live in Walnut Creek, CA. It is about 30-45 minutes (depending on traffic) outside of San Francisco. It was an absolutly wonderful place to live. There are wonderful employment opportunities within the city, but if all else fails, you could always work in the city. I went to high school there, and the schools are some of the best that I have seen. Keep in mind, along with any other Nor Cal city, the cost of living is high and Walnut Creek is no different. You have a high level of safety and it is a very popular suburb of the city, so all of that comes into the equation. Now, for something a little more affordable you can look into San Lorenzo, Castro Valley, etc. But as with everything else, it is all relative - you will be lacking in the schools and safety compared to the other suggestion I gave. Another suggestion would be Cupertino. It is right outside of San Jose (which was just voted #3 safest city in the country) and is a sleeper suburb. It is very beautiful and cheep rentals can still be found. Good luck on your move.
