Best place to live in America??
We will be a mid to late 20's family with one kid and one dog relocating from ft. benning, ga to somewhere new. Were both originally from Panama city, FL, not as good as it sounds. Wife is an accountant, I will seeking employment with local law enforcement. Looking for a place that is relatively safe, good schools, some diversity, house prices that match our jobs, a big backyard, the best possible place to raise a family, close enough to go to ball games with my boy. We'll be looking to buy.. Any help would be appreciated.

- Try the southwest such as in Arizona or California.
- Dripping Springs, TX.
- well west Des monies Iowa is a nice place to live and it is safe. there is olathe Kansas that is a nice and safe place. in Missouri Columbia that is a safe place. all these place are safe.
- I am moving to Charlotte, NC. We have 2 small children and 2 dogs. House prices are very affordable (cheap really) and we are moving to a very nice neighborhood. It is just starting to build up down there.
- pealand tx
- If you are actually in law enforcement, the city of Phoenix has been doing a huge hiring campaign since last fall. I believe their goal is to hire 500 additional officers.
- I like St. Louis... You can move out to somewhere like Edwardsville, IL which is a developing area with affordable housing and big backyards but not far from downtown. Plus, it's its own little city in itself. St. Charles, MO is expanding as well or Eureka, MO. Of course, I'm from St. Louis, so I'm a bit biased. All these places have good schools and are safe and you can go to Cardinals, Rams, and Blues games pretty easily. I wouldn't really pay much attention to the fact that St. Louis was voted the most dangerous city in America. This is simply untrue. Just like any major city, if you go down the wrong road, you might be in trouble, but out in the suburbs (ie. the places I've listed), St. Louis is as safe as you can get. I suppose you've considered Atlanta, which is growing and is around lakes and whatnot. I've heard good things about Nashville and Louisville. I know that Kansas City is a really nice place, too. It's growing and the areas around it are affordable and expansive without being hours outside of downtown. Actually, KC was listed as the 3rd best city for relocating families by Worldwide ERC. Money Magazine rated KC's Overland Park as 6th best place to live. But, look around some. You'll find it. Good luck.
- Northern Kentucky is a good area to live. Check out these cities; Covington, Alexandria, Wilder, Cold Spring, Highland Heights, and Independence. There is a brand new elementary school that will open this fall in Cold Spring. This is also a very safe area to raise a family. As for your employment, Cincinnati, Ohio (which is just across the river) is always hiring law enforcement and there are a lot of businesses downtown for an accountant to work at. As for diversity, Ky often gets a bad rap as being hicks, but Northern KY is nothing like that. There are a lot of fun things to do here as well. You can go to a Cincinnati Reds game for pretty cheap with your boy or play at one of the many local parks in the area. There are also many places to go out for 20 somethings, if you and your wife like that. We have the only Haufbrahaus besides the real one in Germany.
