Best small city/town in Texas!?

Keep it under 250,000 people. For example, Lubbock, Plano, Grand Prairie, Laredo, or smaller. My picks: McGregor, Lone Star, Tyler, Crawford, Galveston, Belton, New Braunfels

1. Boerne. I live there, it is nice, but it is getting bigger and more expensive.
2. Bulverde. But San Antone's closing in. Pity. Gruene is nice, too, but they're putting up a bunch of cookie-cutter houses near the old part (where the dance hall is). Alpine's nice, but it's a fair drive out there. I could rattle off a few dozen more, but it's almost quittin' time, and I'll be off to Bulverde. The redhead's a-waitin'.
3. Just hafe hour west of Fort Worth, Weatherford,TX.

Beeville, Katy, Boerne, Kerrville, Fredericksburg, Seguin, Waco, Port Aransas,Uvalde,Bandera,Castroville, hondo, Devine,Lytle, Poteet, Floresville, La Vernia, Schertz, New Braunfels, San Marcos,Luling,Schulenberg,Brookshire, Skidmore, Mathis, Three Rivers, Karnes City, Poth, Sinton, Raymondville, Freer,Port Arthur,Beaumont, Waxahachie, Hearn,Leakey, Utopia, Sabinal,Rio Medina, Lake Hills, Gruene, Marion,China Grove, is it obvious that I live in San Antonio.
5. I'm partial to: Cistern, Dimebox, Pelly, Cut & Shoot, Blanco, Paris, Athens, Rome, Moscow, Johnson City, Bridge City, Clear Lake City, Texas City, Queen City, Bald Knob, Waxahachie, Bellville, Beeville, Smithville, and I haven't even mentioned any of the Springs, Canyons or Junctions. Hey, are you going to the VFW Hall dance Saturday night?

7. sweeny(small), west columbia, lake jackson(lots of shopping), freeport (beach!!)
8. Lufkin in east texas, I love it there.
9. Bellaire - In the middle of HOuston and all it has to offer but still has a small town feel. (Pricey though!)

16. near downtown houston. Close to everything and still got that partial small-town feel. Sugarland is ok but they only have highway 59 running through it. If there is a evacuation due to a storm, that highway is gonna be packed.

18. 250,000 gets pretty large. Agree with New Braunfels. I'd pick Temple over Belton. San Marcos and Georgetown could also make the list. (Though both have been pretty much consumed by greater Austin these days.) For some reason Childress always seems to come to mind. Not sure much about it other than it is along a long stretch of road. The for names, you could always add Happy and Oatmeal. Or London and Paris for an international flavor. Or Troy (once known as Troy Aikman) for the classics.
19. Carthage, tx..... Voted best little town in texas, and it is true. Population 2,500. Far enough from any big towns, but within an hour of Longview, and shreveport.... for concerts, Shopping, fine dinning and all the convienences you would find in a larger town. The people are nice, it has a great community college, and good overall atmosphere! I love it there. Was just a visitor, but recently bought a small farm.
