best places to live

I HAVE to move to Florida. Which cities should I look in with low crime rates and good education??

Because of business I HAVE to move to Florida, preferably South Florida. I need to narrow my search for a plce to live in an area with low crime rates and best education possible. Does anyone know the area well enough that you can help me out?? Also, are public schools good, or should I look for a private school?

  1. If you want a place with low crime rates I suggest Pembroke Pines(South Florida), Davie(South Florida), or Orlando(Central Florida. Please, for your own safety, don't move to Miami. It's not safe at all; not at daytime, much less at night! I live in Pembroke Pines and the people are so nice. Pembroke Pines is a place where you can actually walk around at night without worrying about people jumping you. Education isn't a problem here there are plenty of "A" school from Elementary through High, and right in the heart of Davie(also a neighboring city of Pembroke Pines/ Hollywood) is a University- Nova Southeastern University. I've got friends, at least 20, who go there. The majors there are Dentistry and Medical Services.
  2. LOL a florida author once said, florida is the catch basin for all the crap in the USA, the entire state is corrupt. He goes on with questions like, would you rather be a thief in cleveland or miami? good luck!
  3. You're lucky!!! I recently had to move away from South Florida, and would love to go back. If you want a good public school, stay north of Ft. Lauderdale. West Palm Beach and Jupiter are nice. Like anywhere else, there are pockets of good and not so good areas. I wouldn't suggest living in Miami unless you have a ton of money to be able to afford a great place. It's fine for singles, but if you want to raise a family, definitely head north just a little.
  4. Avoid the urban areas as they are crime ridden and schools are so great compared to the rest of the US (West Palm Beach, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa, Tallahassee). If you live in those areas, it is just a matter of time before you are a victim of crime (car thief in particular). The west coast of Florida have some nice areas (Naples, Ft. Myers). Personally, I would look for a private school. I moved to Florida from the Northeast and I don't think that the public schools here are on par with the level of education received up north. A great site to check of demographics is www.city-data.com. Crime statistics are listed there. There are some very nice areas (some very expensive and some reasonable) in Florida. Just be careful not to end up in one of the high-crime areas.
  5. It depends on what part of south Florida you are looking to move to. If you were to live in Miami you would have a high crime rate compared to living in Pasco County which has a lower crime rate than many cities and couties in Florida. The education in all cities is different. If i were you i would stick with the public schools. Private schools may offer more ut you don't get more and they charge so much.
  6. My parents used to live in Cape Coral FL, and while I don't know much about the school system there, I did think the town was nice. It is by Ft Myers, and has been said to be one of the fastest growing cities in the country. At least it's somewhere to start....
