Is the youth culture very different in small towns from the big cities?
It seems like these days, with globalization and mass media and the internet youth culture is very similar no matter where you go. But do you think there are still noticeable differences in the youth culture (i.e. what clothe syoung people wear, what they do for fun, what music they listen to, dating rituals, etc.) between small town American and big cities/metropollitan areas?

- the youth scare me, look like they're willing to eat me in the middle of the mall, sometimes.
- That is a damn good question.
- yes it is
- I moved to AZ from Los Angeles CA, I think small town kids try to ACT like big city kids and just cause a bunch a' trouble.
- Yes I believe there is still secular differences. Change is good, individualism is good, free will is good.......it's STILL out there
- There are a strong and large number of subtle differences. When one goes to the other, they can tell, trust me.
- Thanks to mass media, its monkey see, monkey do,anywhere you go.
- Well definitely inner city youth have to deal more with gangs, diversity, and ethnicity that rural youth. In my opinion, kids in large cities interract with each other on a more confrontational or suspicious foundation. This goes the same for adults. City kids are exposed to more troublesome situations (i.e. drugs, crime, vagrants, violence, etc.) and must learn to adapt. Rural kids do not need to adapt as much to their surroundings because they are fairly stable. HOWEVER, many rural kids idolize the culture of city kids and emulate it. City kids are left unsupervised for longer periods of time as they can often walk to friends houses and stores. Rural kids can't and often rely on parents.
