best places to live

Best cities in the US?

My husband and I want to move to a larger city (such as the size of Seattle). What are some good locations that have decent housing prices, good jobs (I am a massage therapist, he's a government contractor right now) and low crime rates? I've done research online, but I'd really like to know what people who live or have lived in certain cities have to say....

  1. New York, hands down. Nothing else even comes close...
  2. Boston is pretty good with the crime but is expensive. The wages are good.
  3. Eureka, Nevada. Just for the name. lol.
  4. fort lauderdale.
  5. If I decided to live in a large city it would be Chicago. Great town. Great people.
  6. Funny you should mention Seattle. A few years ago, a friend of mine moved from New England to a Seattle suburb and loves it! He says the people are nicer, the taxes and real estate are lower.
  7. CHICAGO!
  8. Are you looking for price of a home or what. New York is good for singles, Dallas is good for singles however, Fort Worth is good for married couples. Depends on what you want!
  9. Austin, TX
  10. The north side of Chicago is a culturally rich and diverse area to live. Housing is on the expensive side, but it's definitely worth it. With your credentials as a massage therapist and your husband as a government contractor, I do not think you will have to worry about finances. The job market for the two of you is phenomenal in this part of the country. Another area I would suggest for you would be Minneapolis, MN. This area is a hub of growth right now, and is a good place to raise a family if you have or are thinking of having children. If you want small town feel, try Des Moines, IA. There is excellent job growth and opportunity, and the housing prices are FANTASTIC. Plus, some of the best education in the country stems from little old Iowa. I was born and raised in this state, and I am a genius! My IQ is off the charts. 149 actually.
  11. Well realy it depends where you want to settle. West coast, my favorite would be San Diego.. It's absolutely beautiful, not very congested, and an overall nice place to live. East coast for me is definitely New York. (Even though it's a tad larger than Seattle) New York is where I grew up and it often gets a bad rep because the crime is blown up by the media. Most places in the city are safe and nice to live in. The city isn't exactly pristine or cheap but when asked which is the best city, NY is choice 1.
  12. Would like to suggest San Diego and/or other Southern Californa cities. But decent housing prices? No, not here. I understand Seattle or even Portland are nice if you can take the dreary weather.
  13. Seattle,WA Dallas,TX Minneapolis,MN
  14. Denver, Colorado
  15. Seattle is awesome!
  16. Atlanta, GA is nice--move to the northwest side. Tampa, FL is also nice. Madison, WI is great, but housing costs are a little expensive. Chatanooga, TN is very beautiful, affordable, and the people are great!
  17. New York City metro area. There simply is no other place to live! You could find a nice place on the 'Jersey side and commute!
