Best States to Live.?

For those whom prefer moving to Portland, Oregon to the cities in Texas, why are there so many cities in Texas rated the top best places to live? I rarely see OR on the list.

1. How many large cities does Oregon have? I've never been there, but it seems to me like most of the big cities on the west coast are concentrated in California, then you have a few north of Oregon in Washington State. I get the impression that Oregon is mostly a rural state. I also imagine the same thing about Texas because of it's sheer size, I wouldn't be surprised if the state of Texas is bigger than some European countries. Texas may get more exposure than Oregon because when people travel around, I imagine they generally tend visit other cities and urban areas around the country as opposed to the deep rural countryside. However Texas also seems to have a pretty good number of cities as well. And evidently more people have ventured into Texas and liked wherever they moved too or grew up in. To each their own, "best state to live in" is subjective. For most people the best state to live in is usually where they grew up in and/or wherever the friends/family and place of work is.
